The committee called Council on Ministries plans all the special events held at Hammer throughout the year. This committee welcomes new ideas, or improvements on old ones! The 2016 committee members are:

ANNUAL EVENTS
 
BIRTHDAY SUPPER- held in February or March.  This is a fun family event, recognizing all birthdays.  12 tables are decorated to represent each month of the year, including the dessert. Everyone brings a covered dish to round out the meal, and then sits at their birth month table.  Entertainment is always unique and fun!! 
         Held on March 13, 2016 after Sunday School
 
HOLY WEEK ACTIVITIES- Holy Week is the week before Easter. The King City Community offers several opportunities for all comers to worship:
*Community Choir Easter Cantata, held on Palm Sunday at HM United Methodist Church at 7:00 pm. 
*Early Morning services rotated among community churches at 6:30 am each morning, Breakfast is served
*Maundy Thursday services at various churches
*Good Friday services at various churches
 
 
SINGSPIRATION- held in April, on odd-numbered years. TBA.

LADIES’ BRUNCH- Sponsored by the Rachel Circle, this is a Saturday morning brunch held in the Fellowship Hall, with entertainment provided for all of the ladies of the church (all ages). We encourage all the ladies to come and have food and fellowship!

SEPTEMBER
GRANDPARENTS DAY RECOGNITION-  September 11, 2016
 
 
WIENER ROAST AND HAY RIDE- Last Sunday in September, held at Randy and Sheila Hodge’s home
 
OCTOBER
HARVEST DINNER AND BAZAAR- This is an event spearheaded by the Women’s Groups of the church and serves as a fund-raiser for their mission projects and support of various church activities. Held each year on the 4th Wednesday of October, the ladies of the church serve an evening meal in the Fellowship Hall, offer take-out boxes and also have crafts and baked goods for a free will donation.
 
HALLOWEEN TRUNK PARTY- This is an event sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance. Anyone who wishes to be part of this fun ministry should decorate the “trunk” of their vehicle, load up with candy or goodies, and join the others on the east side of the square in town (across from CB&T) on October 31, around 3:00 pm.  You are encouraged to decorate your trunk, and dress in costume as well, if you wish!  This is a goodwill, fun activity for our community!
 
NOVEMBER
VETERAN’S DAY RECOGNITION-  On the Sunday closest to Veteran’s Day, Hammer Memorial makes an effort to recognize all of our veterans, living or deceased, during the worship service. November 13, 2016
 
THANKSGIVING DINNER- Hammer Memorial’s 2016 Thanksgiving Feast is to be held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, following Sunday School, in the church Fellowship Hall.  All are invited to come share a meal with us.  The church provides the meat, potatoes, bread and drinks, others are invited to bring a favorite dish to add to the feast.

DECORATE THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY-  The decoration party is usually scheduled the Sunday after Thanksgiving, following Sunday School or in the afternoon.  Sunday School classes decorate the church for Christmas that day.  The Young and Restless class are in charge of the downstairs, the Pathfinders are in charge of the outdoors (hope it’s a nice day!!), and the Pairs and Spares are in charge of the upstairs.  This is a fun time of fellowship and is a great beginning for the season in which we celebrate the birth of our Lord, and all that this event means for us as Christians in His service!
 
 
DECEMBER
ADVENT SERVICES-  This service varies from year to year, but is always celebrated.
 
CHRISTMAS PLAY- To be scheduled.
 
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM-  The Children’s Christmas Program is typically scheduled for the 2nd Sunday evening in December.  
The program is followed by cookies and punch in the Fellowship Hall, and there may be a surprise visitor!
 
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES- on Christmas Eve Hammer Memorial celebrates with two services, at 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.  This is a time for extended families to worship together, reminding us all why we are here.  Have a Blessed Christmas.
