WELCOME TO THE HAMMER MEMORIAL UMC MISSIONS PAGE

THE MISSION OF HAMMER MEMORIAL IS TO “EVANGELIZE our community, DISCIPLE our church family AND CARE for the concerns of others.”  IF WE ARE NOT ABOUT THIS MISSION, WHAT ARE WE AS A CHURCH?  IT IS OUR SINCERE HOPE TO SHOW OTHERS OUR CARE AND CONCERN, AND BE THE LIGHT THAT JESUS WANTS US TO BE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

LOCAL
Soup & Sandwich Supper & Ash Wednesday Service at Stanberry UMC
Ash Wednesday Service and Supper with our sister church on March 5th at 5:30 pm

During the Ash Wednesday Service, we will be having imposition of ashes which marks the beginning of Lent, a season of penitence in preparation for Easter.  Everyone will be invited to come forward and have the ashes placed on their forehead or hand in the shape of a cross.

KING CITY MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE HOLY WEEK SERVICES– The week before Easter is called Holy Week and all local churches are participants in the special services each morning.  Each takes a turn to host the 6:30 AM lay service, with breakfast following. Those who attend come back year after year because this morning fellowship means so much, and most will profess that Easter would not be the same without these early worship experiences.  There are also evening Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services at several area churches.  Don’t miss this!

OTHER LOCAL PROJECTS
At Hammer Memorial, people believe that reaching out to those who need help in our community is one of the most important things we can do as a church.  We have missions we support as a church, but smaller groups within the church also support many different missions.  Some of our community projects are  The Christmas Store, The King City Food Pantry, Community Vacation Bible School, hosting meals quarterly for the retired King City School staff monthly meetings and helping families in need because of fire, illness, financial, etc.
